On startup, if any icon is right clicked on the desktop, I get the working circle indefinitely and to get out I stop Windows explorer, refresh explorer and then right click operation works fine. Happens on every startup even with all programs and unnecessary processes stopped (msconfig). When Avast is disabled on startup or starting in safe mode (avast disabled) right click operation is fine. The version of Avast is about 9 months old but is updated (virus database and program) regularly. I have used Avast free very successfully on my Vista 64 and XP32 machines and was(am) mystified by this glitch on my W7 64 machine? Any suggestions as in the interim I have switched to AVG free which doesn’t have the right click problem on startup.
