#1 Hello all, Noob to FreeNas and trying to boot up for the first time. Installed image on 16gb USB drive using win32diskimager for the 8.3.1 image. Bios is set to boot from USB by default, after posting I get to a boot menu that states:F1 FreeBSDF2 FreeBSDF5 Drive 1F6 PXEBoot: F1It doesn't matter which option I choose, I then get FreeBSD/x86 bootDefault: 0:ad(0,a)/boot/loaderboot: I'm not sure what to type at this point to get to the console that's mentioned in all the install guides. Any help would be greatly appreciated. #3 I tried wiping the stick last night with active kill disk and then re-writing the image using win32diskimager. Same thing happened. Got to the boot menu described above. Before I wiped the usb stick, I used windows to delete all the partitions and create a single unallocated space and then used active kill disk. Should I have done something else? #4 Two things you could try:1) Use a different USB Flash Drive.2) Grab another copy of the OS and try it. The one you downloaded could be corrupt. And you could just load via the bootable iso and load there in case you have something wrong. #5 @joeschmuckI will try a different USB drive tonight as well as downloading and writing a different copy. I have to admit that I didn't check the hash checksum. On the bootable ISO, I don't have a cd/dvd/bd drive in the system nor do I have a usb one. Are you saying I should copy the ISO to a usb flash drive? If I load the image from a cd drive of some sort (I can probably dig one out of a different system) can I install the O/S to a usb flash drive? Thanks #6 I burnt the ISO image to a cd and used a USB DVD drive to try and boot the image. The system recognised the drive and booted as far as /boot/LOADER Not found/boot/loader Found but then the system simply reboots and never gets past this stage. I will try a different USB stick to boot from and When I press the button "Run ESET SysRescue" screen of my laptop freezes for 20-30 minutes, so no one button of my keyboard works. After a half of an hour screen of my laptop unfreeze and I gets two columns of errors. I took 3 photos of the screen of my laptop and I pinned them to this post. My laptop is Asus A70AB. Hard drive of this laptop is completely empty because I formatted it via other computer. I tried to make bootable USB drive via Rufus and Win32DIskImager, I tried ISO file and IMG file, I tried MBR and GPT, I tried NTFS and FAT32 formats of the bootable USB drive, I tried 4 different USB drives and all USB ports of this laptop, I tried to reset all BIOS settings to default, I tried to plug out CMOS battery from motherboard for 2-3 hours. And I get always the same errors. What is the problem? It's a photo of the screen of my laptop in general. It's the right column of the errors. It's the left column of the errors. Topic This article describes the method for imaging Datto Utilities onto a USB drive. Environment Datto Utilities Description The Datto Utilities environment (sometimes referred to as "Datto Stick"), is available for download at download.datto.com. The Datto Utilities application includes the Bare Metal Restore (BMR), SIRIS Imaged, and Datto Endpoint Backup restoration environments. Each of these are separate products that have their own unique uses and workflows. Datto updates Datto Utilities on a regular basis. Ensure that the USB stick has the latest version available from downloads.datto.com before use. The Datto Utilities version of the Bare Metal Restore (BMR) environment is only available for Datto appliances running the Datto IRIS 4 (Ubuntu 20.04) OS. Before using the Bare Metal Restore utility to image new hardware, it is critical to review all hardware prerequisites in the BMR Getting started article. Before using the SIRIS Imaged utility to image new hardware for use as a SIRIS device, it is critical to review all hardware prerequisites in the Getting started with SIRIS Imaged article. Datto Utilities is only compatible with writable USB media. Attempts to run the application from read-only media, such as a CD or DVD, will produce unreliable results. Prerequisites The following items should be available when starting this process: USB drive that is at least 8GB. USB drive must be at least 2.0, but 3.0 is strongly recommended. Datto recommends using the latest version of balenaEtcher to image the drive. Any other tool that writes the image directly to the destination without altering it can be used to image your USB stick. Examples include Win32DiskImager, Fedora Media Writer, USBImager, and dd. Do not use UNetbootin, Rufus, RMPrepUSB, Universal USB Installer, Ventoy, or livecd-iso-to-disk. NOTE ">NOTE Earlier versions of this article contained instructions for using Rufus or UNetbootin to image the USB drive. These solutions will NO LONGER BE COMPATIBLE with new versions (8 and higher) of Datto Utilities and so should no longer be used. IMPORTANT ">IMPORTANT Imaging your USB drive will format it entirely. Make sure the USB drive contains no valuable data before imaging. Obtaining the ISO Download the Datto Utilities image (.ISO) from the Datto Downloads page by navigating to the Datto Images tab and clicking the Download link under the Datto Utilities ISO section. Once the image file has downloaded, proceed to the next section. Imaging the USB Drive with balenaEtcher A free version of balenaEtcher isdownloading Win32DiskImager - Raspberry Pi Forums
Correctly but dont have support for WiFi and only shows image on external monitor. The image for T100 works best for me with image on tablet, sound, touch etc working but WiFi and physcal buttons are not working.I have also tried AmiDUOS on the Encore. It emulates Android but is quite fast. The amout of free memory is a limitation with this solution. #3 not had any problems to boot them from USB. How have you done this? I will greatly appreciate any instructions I have already tried to toggle between GPT/MBR layout on Rufus and it won't recognize. It would be very cool, if you could say which image on which site to download and which configurations that I should use on Rufus. Thanks Last edited: Feb 17, 2015 #4 I compared your screenshots with my Encore.Boot menu Picture: If I don´t have an USB stick or an USB stick that is not UEFI bootable, my Encore looks like your screenshot. If I have an UEFI bootable USB stick, it will display name after (USB Memory: KingstonData Traveler 2.0).BIOS settings Picture: Identical (I also have turned BitLocker off but I dont know if it is necessary.Software that I have used to make bootable USB sticks:sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimagerI use version 0.9.5 for writing .IMG files to USB stick. No settings, just select image file, USB stick and write.rufus.akeo.ieI used Version 1.4.12 (Build 535) to write .ISO files to USB stick. Settings are "MBR for BIOS or UEFI", "FAT32", "4096".I think the best image for Encore is the one for Asus T100 "android-x86-t100.img" from Android-X86 discussion group. Most of the images work, like "android-x86-4.4-r2.iso" but after boot, the image is sent to external monitor.I have NOT found any image with working WiFi in Android yet, if anyone knows one, please post a link. The images that you download must be 32 bit UEFI to be bootable on the Encore.(New to this board and not allowed to post links yet). #5 I have NOT found any image with working WiFi in Android yet, if anyone knows one, please post a link. If this works, I will compile my own Android Image to work with Wi-Fi... And, of course, post a link here (If it worked)(I already have done stuff like this before...)I will try with this instruction that you gave me. If it works, I will post here more detailed instructions (with printscreens)...PS: I have just seen that you are freshly new in the forum. In cloud deployments, some of the features described in this section might not be available or might be different. For example, backup is available only with a bootable media that is built with the on-premises Bootable Media Builder. Bootable media Bootable media is a physical media (CD, DVD, USB flash drive or other removable media supported by the machine's BIOS as a boot device) that allows you to run the Acronis Cyber Backup agent either in a Linux-based environment or a Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE), without the help of an operating system. Bootable media is most often used to: Recover an operating system that cannot start Access and back up the data that has survived in a corrupted system Deploy an operating system on bare metal Create basic or dynamic volumes on bare metal Back up sector-by-sector a disk with an unsupported file system Back up offline any data that cannot be backed up online – for example, because the data is locked by a running application or because the access to it is restricted. A machine can also be booted by using the network boot from Acronis PXE Server, Windows Deployment Services (WDS) or Remote Installation Services (RIS). These servers with uploaded bootable components can be thought of as a kind of bootable media too. You can create bootable media or configure the PXE server or WDS/RIS by using the same wizard. Create a bootable media or download a ready-made one? By using the Bootable Media Builder, you can create your own bootable media (Linux-based or WinPE-based) for Windows, Linux or macOS computers. For a fully-featured bootable media, you need to specify your Acronis Cyber Backup license key. Without this key, your bootable media will be capable of performing only recovery operations. The bootable media does not support hybrid drives. Also, you can download a ready-made bootable media (Linux-based only). You can use the downloaded bootable media only for recovery operations and access to Acronis Universal Restore. You cannot back up data, validate or export backups, manage disks, or use scripts with it. Downloaded bootable media is not suitable for macOS computers. To download a ready-made bootable media In the backup console, click the account icon in the top-right corner, and then click Downloads. Select Bootable media. You can burn the downloaded ISO file to a CD/DVD or create a bootable USB flash drive by using one of the free tools that are available online. Use ISO to USB or RUFUS if you need to boot an UEFI machine, or Win32DiskImager for a BIOS machine. In Linux, using the dd utility makes sense. If the backup console is not accessible, you can download the ready-made bootable media from your account in Acronis Customer Portal: Go to Locate Acronis Cyber Backup, and then click Downloads. On the page that opens, locate Additional downloads, and then click Bootable Media ISO (for Windows and Linux). Linux-based or WinPE-based bootable media?
