Serif was founded in 1987 by a small team of software engineers, with the objective of creating lower-cost alternatives to existing Desktop Publishing (DTP) software packages using the Microsoft Windows platform.[2][3]The first Serif product to be released was called PageStar: a simple, low-cost advertisement layout program for Windows 2.0. This was expanded in 1990 with their follow-up, PagePlus (originally for Windows 3.0),[3] which would go on to win 'Best Software' at the Computer Shopper Awards 2014.[4] In subsequent years, this was accompanied by other software products in the 'Plus' range, including DrawPlus (1994),[5] PhotoPlus (1999),[6] WebPlus (2000),[7] and MoviePlus (2003).[8]In 1996, Serif was acquired by American company Vizacom (formerly known as Allegro New Media); however, ownership was sold back to Serif senior management in 2001.[9][10]The successor to their DrawPlus product, Affinity Designer (a vector art & design package), was launched in 2014 for macOS.[11] It was Serif's first product for macOS, and had been written from scratch specifically for it.[12] This was followed in 2015 by the second Affinity product (and successor to PhotoPlus), Affinity Photo (a photo editing & design package).[13]In 2016, following the release of Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo for Windows, Serif ceased development for their 'Plus' product range to focus exclusively on the Affinity product range.[14] Support for the legacy product range ended in July 2022.[15]Affinity Designer is considered an Adobe Illustrator alternative and is cross-platform with versions available for iPadOS, macOS and Windows. It supports both vector and raster design artwork, with powerful tools and a budget-friendly price.[16][17][18] Affinity Designer was selected as the winner of the "Best Software For Designers" Award in the 2022 Creative Bloq Awards.[19] It was also one of the winners of the 2015 Apple Design Award.[20]Affinity Photo has been described as an Adobe Photoshop alternative, and is compatible with common Register or Login Home Latest Popular Calendar Members Who's On Feedback Tracker Home » Archive » Cartoon Animator » CrazyTalk Animator 3 Forum » Training - Tutorial, Hints & Tips » DrawPlus Clipart into Affinity Designer Posted By gcshep 8 Years Ago Rated 5 stars based on 1 vote. Hello everybody, the following error already occurs since version 1.x of Affinity Photo and was already described in connection with Affinity Designer 1.x in the respective forum and declared as a bug. My setup: Affinity Photo 2.0.3 Windows 10 Pro 22H2 64-Bit Windows settings: Windows HD Color --> Use HDR is disabled (but switching HDR does not seem to make a difference) Dell Alienware AW3432DW (3440x1440) running at 120 Hz (G-SYNC Ultimate enabled) (via DP) (one monitor setup) nVidia RTX 2080 nVidia studio driver 527.56 (latest version) Under these conditions, a slight flickering occurs when moving the mouse over the Affinity Photo window and when typing on the Affinity Photo window. When working over the window of another application or over the Windows desktop while Affinity Photo is open, no flickering occurs. From Serif, I only use Affinity Photo, but it is so far the only application I use that is affected by this behavior. It also doesn't matter if Affinity Photo's window is maximized, or only takes up part of the screen area. There are several workarounds described in the Affintiy Designer forum post. Some users find it helps to reduce the refresh rate to 60 Hz. For others, turning off G-SYNC seems to help. In my case, only turning off G-SYNC helps. I do not know, why in my case disabling G-SYNC was the only way to work around the flickering. Maybe it is because my display has a slightly higher width than the standard 1440p displays from the users describing that reducing the frame rate to 60 Hz had helped them. It also makes no difference whether G-SYNC is active in the graphics card driver only for full-screen applications or also for applications in windowed mode. As other users already mentioned I would rather not turn off G-SYNC or reduce the frame rate since I paid for these two features. But, still on one hand I do not know wether Affinity Photo or Windows or the driver is causing the issue. On the other hand the only application I am having issues with is Affinity Photo. I would be glad to help sorting out causes. If Serif needs more input they may text me.. Zip Links: Download Serif Affinity Designer 1. Software developer Serif has launched V2 of its Affinity creative suite, bringing new features and enhancements to its trio of graphic design and content creation applications that undercut Adobe on price.Affinity Designer 2, Affinity Photo 2, and Affinity Publisher 2 have all been visually redesigned and introduce some new features for designers and creative professionals. Just some of the new additions to the Affinity Photo 2 photo editing software include nondestructive RAW development (allowing designers to change develop settings, even after adjusting a file), compound masking, live mesh warping, and the ability to save different visibility states of your layer stack.Affinity Designer 2, a vector graphic design and illustration software package, is introducing vector warping, DWG / DXF file imports, and an X-Ray View mode that shows the makeup of your work. An assortment of new tools is also available, such as a knife tool for cutting shapes, curves, or text, an interactive shape builder, and tools that can measure line lengths, segments, distances, and areas of any objects to scale. Finally, Affinity Publisher 2, Serif’s publishing and page layout design application, has a performance boost to help handle large documents and now includes features such as Books, which grant users the ability to combine separate publisher documents as chapters to create one long publication (only available on desktop). Affinity V2’s release also patches a gap in the company’s iPad lineup with the addition of Affinity Publisher 2 iPad, which now brings the entire Affinity suite to Mac, PC, and iPad. A full list of new features for Affinity V2 can be found on the Affinity website.Affinity is often regarded as a more affordable alternative to Adobe’s own line of creative applications — while the Affinity Designer V1 vector program is less powerful than Adobe Illustrator, for example, the software is available as a one-off payment of $59.99 (compared to Adobe’s $19.99 monthly subscription) while still providing similar features. Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher are similarly comparable to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign, respectively.Despite rumors, Affinity V2 remains a one-time purchase and has not switched to a subscription modelRumors regarding Affinity moving from a one-time purchase model over to a subscription service can, thankfully, be put to rest. “The ability to buy for a one-off payment is something that makes Affinity the only viable option for many of the brilliant and inspiring creative people around the world, who would otherwise not have access to the highest-quality tools,” said Ashley Hewson, managing director of Serif, in a press release.Desktop versions of Affinity Designer 2, Affinity Photo 2, and Affinity Publisher 2 are priced at $69.99 (from $59.99 on V1) for those wanting individual apps, with iPad versions of the software available for.
