"}"> Dan Tong • Contributing Member • Posts: 642 Photoshop CS4 upgrade Pricing Policy -UNFAIR Sep 23, 2008 If you thought that buying PShop CS3 Extended would then put you in line for getting a break on the upgrade to PShop CS4, you are in for a huge disappointment.The upgrade from Ext CS3 to CS4 will cost $349, the same as if you were upgrading from plain CS4 to Ext CS4.In my opinion This really STINKS, and is contrary to the upgrade policies of most software vendors.To add insult to injury, Adobe, has in their wisdom decided to not officially support CS4 on Win XP 64 bit. Primarily to generate revenue is just plain wrong.Steve Balmer has been quoted as saying he does not want such a long period between new versions of windows (as between XP and Vista), he wants a new version of windows every TWO YEARS. Elements 7 just does not do the job. I've been quite happy with CS3 Ext and frankly the features of CS4 will be welcomeI don't begrudge Adobe their profits, but the proportional cost of the upgrades are rather high, and the specific Extended edition upgrade is what irks me.Some of the people on this thread say that they don't really use many of the CS3 features, but I do. If you don't use much of the power of PShop then there is no need to purchase it -Elements is actually an excellent deal for the price.
