I've used opera for a long time before on my old pc, and then everything with "install chrome extensions" was fine. Then, when I got new pc, I installed opera, and then opera gx (when it came out). In first months chrome extensions were installing normally, but recently I tried to download PreMiD addon, so I clicked "add to opera" button, it took me to extensions page, but then nothing showed up. I tried reinstalling opera gx aswell as opera (it's not working on regular opera too), but nothing happened either. And it comes to every chrome extension, not PreMid only. Last edited by Hiya hiya, for some reason out of no where OperaGX has decided to completely go all hieroglyphics box word on me and I have no idea what is causing it, I wish I could be posting this using OperaGX right now but unfortunately its ruined the browser so much so to the point of it being unusable. All text and images across all sites appear as black boxes, hard to say whether its dark mode or not causing this issue as I am not even able to disable dark mode with how much of an issue this causes. I will attach below some examples of what happens on various pages.In the above images one is the homepage of my own twitter, another is an attempt to google "Search result" and the last of course being a speed dial tab. I'd really love to hear if anyone else is having this issue and if so how to go about resolving it, I couldn't find anything on the forums previously discussing this either. Thank you

I decided I wanted to switch over to a new browser after one of the big password hacks Chrome had. I had so many passwords to change that I didn't feel comfortable working with Chrome anymore. I kept them all in my head and had to make new ones up entirely. It was a pain in the ass to have to change everything out.Soon after, OperaGX was being promoted everywhere I watched, so I thought, "Eh why not? Try it out." My friend offered Brave as an alternative if GX didn't pan out.Both of these browsers were lacking features and basic functionality to access really basic websites, like I couldn't even access my bank accounts initially because the browsers were missing things. I had to keep both Chrome and the other two on my computer until one of the other two were updated enough to be able to access those sites, but until then I felt like it was a band-aid solution, a supplementary workaround to my dissatisfaction with Chrome.Years later, I'm still not satisfied with my switch over, and I still feel like I have to rely on Chrome for things. I'm moving over to FireFox but I worry I'll still have to use Chrome for things that FireFox just doesn't have access to, but this worry is lessened as FireFox has been around much much longer. I could just try regular Opera, but I'd rather just stick with one browser until I really figure out if it's going to work or not.All this is to say, in summary, Chrome has a monopoly not on just the market, but some basic functionality and key components baked into the browser, where others have to get workarounds with extensions or updates that provide similar access.
