The links work under all other apps, on the desktop, from the run statement, in Hyena 3, but not in Hyena 4. I have to specify an html file to get it to work. Thanks for your help. Comment Administrator Join Date: Sep 2000 Posts: 2444 Re: URLs do not work with filename in Hyena 4I've put the code back to the v3.0 style, which specified "open" for the "verb" for all url executions. I've tested this on NT, 2000, and XP and it seems to work (for me anyway...). We are releasing v4.1 in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, if you want the beta, you can join the list by sending an email to [email protected]. The next beta revision will fix this problem. Please verify if the "open" verb is BOLD when you right click on a shortcut to a url on the desktop. Also, in Hyena I think you have to double click on urls. Single clicks don't activate the url. Thanks for your help.-kevin Kevin StanushSystemTools Software Inc. Since Microsoft has rolled out Powershell in all its wisdom to manage the AD, Will Hyena have the capability of creating powershell scripts or does it support the same functions as powershell? I like the GUI inteface of Hyena especially when I need a quick report but need to know the difference between pulling data from Hyena is as quick as pulling data through Powershell commands to a file. We are endeavoring to create daily reports for administrators to review daily and see what modifications were done to the AD. I am sure there are ways to pull the data but am new to the reporting features in Hyena to automate this process and schedule it as a daily task. Hyena only uses Powershell for Exchange 2010 integration. All other functions in Hyena use various Windows functions to set/retrieve data. For scheduling reports you would need to use Exporter Pro (which comes with Hyena) because it has a command line option that allows it to run silently. You simply configure the exports you want it to run, then setup a Task to run:stexport.exe /CONFIG=path_to_your_ini_file Comment

Re: License problem, hyena 8.6, TS server 2008 R2To add to what cmccullough posted, when Hyena runs, each time, it will attempt to copy many of the files from the installation directory into the 'users' profile directory. By 'user' I mean the account that Hyena is running under. The files that get copied include every configuration file that Hyena needs to both run and that would get modified by the user. This design is due to Microsoft Windows requirements to not modify files in the installation directory and have roaming features in all applications. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way in Hyena to determine where Hyena either wrote the files into or where it attempted to write them to. One way that I get to the directory however is to open a command prompt window. Windows seems to always open the window into the default main profile top level directory. From there, you can usually change the directory to \application data\systemtools\hyena and that is where your files will be.Also, keep in mind that although Microsoft wants all applications to put data into this directory structure, its hidden by default in Windows so using Explorer to find it will not work using default settings. Finally, you can override all of this by changing where Hyena looks for the configuration files. See the Help file, look under Configuration and Customization->Sharing Configuration Information, then look at the Sharing Configuration Files. You can use this option to override the default behavior of Hyena looking at the user's profile directory to either:1. Place the files where a user will have read/write access or better roaming access2. or place the files where more than one user can share the same configuration. Join Date: Mar 2025 Posts: Sorry I meant "without filename in title":I recently upgraded from Hyena 3 to Hyena 4 and have noticed that when I create new URLs in the Object Manager they do not work if no filename is specified. For example if I create a link for clicking on the link will not open up a browser. On the other hand if I change the link to it works fine. Is this a bug or is there a simple way around it? Thanks. [This message has been edited by pchang (edited 03-06-2002).] Administrator Join Date: Sep 2000 Posts: 2444 Re: URLs do not work with filename in Hyena 4I was unable to reproduce this. Hyena uses the operating system to essentially figure out what to do with a given url. But this can produce different results depending upon some things. Please post back what version of NT/2000 you are using and what version of IE (or what browser) you are using. Also, click on Start, Run, and type a url that is giving you problems and press Enter. Windows should display the browser and go directly there. When this action does not work, do you not get a browser at all ? Kevin StanushSystemTools Software Inc. Comment Guest Join Date: Mar 2025 Posts: Re: URLs do not work with filename in Hyena 4I am using Windows 2000 sp2+srp and IE6. Typing in a url and clicking on it works in every other app, and it worked with Hyena 3. No other app has been installed or uninstalled since I upgraded Hyena. Typing a url at the run statement also works just fine. In Hyena 4 however clicking on a url does nothing if an html file is not specified. Comment Administrator Join Date: Sep 2000 Posts: 2444 Re: URLs do not work with filename in Hyena 4We changed the behavior in v4.0 for urls, and may have to change it again. The problem appears to be that on your computer, their isn't a default action for urls. I don't know where this is specified. One thing to try as a test is to create a shortcut on your desktop with a command of Then, using Explorer, find the shortcut on the desktop, right click on it and see if "open" is the first choice on the context menu and if its in bold.Let me know what you find.
