@mttmccll Your machine is an HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO, It is a CTO (Configure To Order) machine therefore no available specs. But from its manual (the last manual on the list): was built around early 2012 which is long time before late 2014. Due to the whitelist, you can only use parts on page 55 of the manual. Looks like none of them supports 5.0GHz. Option weeks ago, for testing, I bought the following wifi card for my 11 years old machine my machine uses different format, not M.2, physically won't fit therefore I went to the shop and swap to the following one (I did not have to pay more, they are same price): it works perfectly, get same result (download speed) with the 1G wired on same machine.Regards.
