HD 6490M discrete graphics chipset. This performance is seen in the results of our 3DMark 06 graphics benchmark test, where the dv7-6135dx scored 5,810 points at medium resolution, and 3,838 at native resolution. In actual gaming tests, we saw decent performance in both Crysis (39.79 frames per second) and Lost Planet 2 (20.10 fps) at 1,024-by-768 resolution, but the laptop couldn't run the same tests at either at native resolution or higher graphics settings. While these scores show that you can certainly get your game on, they lag behind those of the Nvidia GPU-equipped Sony VPC-F226FM/B (58.1 fps in Crysis, 39.3 fps in Lost Planet 2), and Acer AS8950G-9839 (48.4 fps in Crysis, 47.7 fps in Lost Planet 2). The dv7-6135dx is equipped with a large 9-cell (100Wh) extended life battery. This giant reservoir of power allowed it to last 9 hours 28 minutes in our MobileMark 2007 battery life tests. It easily outlasted the Dell 17R (N7110) (7:51 with a 90WH battery) and Acer AS8950G-9839 (5:22 with an 87Wh battery). The only laptop that comes close is the other HP Pavilion, the dv7-6145cl, which lasted 9:13 using an identical battery. Buyers looking at the HP Pavilion dv7-6135dx may be put off by some of the things that are missing, like a Blu-ray drive or a quad-core processor, but the price tag is still hard to pass up. If you want all the bells and whistles, and don't mind spending $170 more to get them, then the Editors' Choice HP. Try running HP battery test on your PC using HP support assistant.
