As a long-standing Macbook Pro user, I have recently built a high-end Windows desktop. (Intel i7 Skylake 6700K, GTX 980Ti GPU, 16Gb memory, Windows 10 Pro). Performance-wise the system is beyond what I need, and yet video playback of videos in iTunes for Windows is poor. I don't get freezes, however the video playback is noticeably not smooth, skipping frames frequently. Audio playback seems fine. I have ruled out the system, driver and performance issues: 1. I have rebuilt the system several times already for various Windows 10 issues (problem presents every time). 2. All drivers have been installed correctly and updated to the latest versions available. 3. BIOS is the latest ASUS release. 4. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. 5. I have tried other video playback tools that have played videos perfectly (Non DRM). This is clearly an iTunes related issue: 1. Performance in everything else, including running high-end games at 1440p with no video quality issues whatsoever. 2. Non DRM videos exhibit the same stuttering in iTunes, however play perfectly smoothly in the Windows 10 "Film & TV" app.. Everything seems to point to an iTunes issue that will hopefully get fixed in a future release, but if anybody has any suggestions, I would welcome your ideas on how to resolve this.
