Unless you only play indie games, you've likely played a game running on the Frostbite Engine. Up until recently, however, modding Frostbite Engine games was a daunting task (and by daunting I mean near-impossible).When GalaxyMan2015 (known as Ehamloptiran here on Nexus Mods) couldn't find the tools to dig into the Frostbite Engine, he built his own. What motivated you?I love pulling apart games and seeing what makes them tick (sometimes more than actually playing the games themselves). Were there any major hurdles along the way?[I started working on it] about two months ago now (just prior to the release of Mass Effect).I think when it comes to the major hurdles, there are all the standard ones when it comes to building a new tool for a new game, that includes deciphering file formats, figuring out obfuscation methods used to hide the data, and just how to get the game to accept mods (considering the games were not designed to be modded in the first place)That sounds like a lot of work for one person! Since the new Twitch phone app doesn't have a very usable stream list, I researched some alternatives:1) Uninstall, then find and install an old version. Just disable auto updates afterward in the app store. This works, but it's an annoying amount of work, especially if you want to try the new version again sometime and then decide to again switch back to the old one.2) Install a third-party app. Xtra, Twire, Chatsen, and Frosty on GitHub are open source, work fine, and have a lot of features. But they also lack some official features like making clips, and don't look the way we're used to. Chatsen and Frosty support iOS, and Frosty looks the most like the old official app. 3) Install a modded version of the old official app alongside the new official app. BTTV on GitHub and PurpleTV (closed source) feel like home, just with more features, like community emotes. The only annoyance is that these apps don't have "Twitch" in their name when you're searching on your phone haha.If you miss the old Twitch app with the nice list of followed streams with titles and video previews, I recommend installing the modded official Android app "bttv-android / BTTV" apk on GitHub.
