And Overview if you want to know more.dBpoweramp Music ConverterdBpoweramp is another great music software tool for audiophiles. This great software suite contains two powerful programs, an audio converter, and a CD ripper. The audio converter allows you to convert audio files to various formats and bitrates, including lossless and hi-res audio. It’s extremely fast, especially if you have a multi-threaded CPU, as the program takes advantage of multiple CPU cores when converting a large batch of files. You can also add DSP effects, such as normalizing the volume. It also integrates into Windows Explorer so that you can right-click on an audio file or a selection of multiple audio files and select “Convert To.”The CD ripper does exactly what it says, ripping CDs from your attached optical drive. There are a few features that make this program great, though. The CD ripper utilizes a technology called AccurateRip, which verifies ripped tracks against an Internet database, making sure they are error-free. The CD ripper also takes advantage of multi-threaded CPUs, populates metadata using various internet database sources, and allows you to add DSP effects. The dBpoweramp Music Converter suite has a 21 day free trial and is available for Windows and MacOS. They offer multiple purchase packages to suit various use cases. Still, I think you’ll be convinced after giving the free trial a go.Peace and Equalizer APOThese two pieces of software are essential for any audiophile using Windows. Forums that several recent major update of Windows 10 caused unexpected initialization(?) and/or inconsistency problems with WASAPI service. As far as we use full USB ASIO I/O with using each of the specific DAC dedicated ASIO driver, we can avoid any problems/issues associated with Windows updates. In other words, I always would like to eliminate (or minimize) Microsoft's direct involvement in audio I/O. #6 You would please let me add a little bit more..."Where and how to control master volume and rerative gains" is one of the major issues in multichannel audio using EQ and/or DSP, and I intesively discussed this issue in my project. As I am using "all ASIO I/O in 192 KHz 24 bit processing", I (we) should always carefully avoid possible bit-loss in small volume and/or small gain, but of course I (we) should also avoid clipping of the audio signal with large volume and/or large gain, like discussed at here.Currently I am using JRiver's volume control as the master volume with all the downstream gains and volumes adjusted/fixed like in these diagrams; of course all of the Windows Kernel Streaming, Direct Sound, WASAPI, etc. are comletely muted-off. and, Please visit this post for further details. #1 I didn't manage to find any discussions on this (I'm sure there has been), so thought I'd ask myself. The general consensus on Windows volume control seems to be that it should be left at 100% because messing with it introduces conversion errors, please correct if that statement is wrong. How does adjusting the preamp setting in e.g. EQ APO Peace plugin to a negative value differ from adjusting the windows volume down from 100%? #2 Leave the Windows volume at 100% to send a strong signal to whatever device your sending audio to.Use something with WASAPI to keep the signal clean. #3 The general consensus on Windows volume control seems to be that it should be left at 100% because messing with it introduces conversion errors, please correct if that statement is wrong. #1 There doesn't seem to be a straight forward way to do this:1. VST plugins: I have found these to be hard to use and unstable. Bandwidth is usually in octaves, not Q.2. Effect DSP: In the IIR filter section there are single frequency PEQ filters. A new instance of the plugin is required for each frequency. Frequencies and magnitude must be integers although Q is granular. There's a big difference between 2 db and 2.5 db.3. Make FIR filters using Rephase and load them into the convolver. Everything has to be resampled to the frequency of the WAV impulse file used. Have I missed anything important? #2 If you're happy with DirectSound (versus ASIO/WASAPI), you can use EQ APO globally. MeldaProduction wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 4:25 pmHmmm, weird, I don't think GPU is the problem, seems more like the host is not really letting the plugin process anything - perhaps doubling it and transferring settings between the duplicates, or some other weird sh** Hi @MeldaProduction, awesome, thank you for chipping in!Well, the host is letting the plugin process the sound, it is just the eq curve that is missing from the GUI in the new plugin version 16.But I suspect that it has to do with some limitations that exist because of EqualizerAPO's design, specifically plugins in EqualizerAPO are not able to display live data, so meters etc. do not show anything, even though the sound is being processed. There is a post by EqualizerAPO's main developer Jonas Thedering ( ... 6b74/#c19c) that explains it in detail:Jonas Thedering - 2019-06-16 I can see that the main problem with VSTs is that the user interface and the processing is running separately. This is the concept of Equalizer APO and its Configuration Editor, but VSTs are made to run in a single application and under the normal user account.I have started work on a VST bridge, a separately running program that will host the VSTs and run under the normal user account. The audio data will be sent from Equalizer APO to the bridge via some kind of IPC and the user interface will be shown inside the Configuration Editor by seamlessly embedding a window that is created by the bridge. This should greatly increase compatibility but will also have some overhead because of the communication between Equalizer APO and bridge, so the current mode will still be available for simple VSTs to allow for best performance. The bridge will also allow to use 32 bit VSTs under 64 bit Windows, which is currently not possible as 32 bit DLLs can't be loaded in 64 bit applications. There remains some work to be done before I can release this functionality, however, so you still have to wait a bit. One problem is that normally a new VST instance is created after each configuration change, so VSTs will have to be reused somehow so their GUI can be kept.So what I suspect has happened, but may be wrong of course, is that some (maybe all) Melda plugins in version 16, have moved some elements from being only in the GUI to the plugin's processing whichHelp needed with configuration of APO EQ

Regarding the sound. #14 I'm (ignorantly!) confident the differences are small if you simply use IIR filters to cut peaks below ~300Hz. But FIR correction has much broader capabilities.Perhaps we can convince @digitalfrost to detail his correction process? 2 o'clock or more. An if you forget to pull it back after closing Foobar2000 your speakers could be damaged. I'm beta testing for mathaudio and some months ago i (probably others too) did a request (to Sergey think one of the developers) to add these curves. Listning to these target curves i ended up with the existing Bright curve as my favorit. The bright curve can be used to limit EQ to the lower frequencies if the speaker output slopes down a la Harmann. #20 I had just installed Equalizer APO with the frontend Peace Equalizer. Seems to work quite well. As a follow up, if you own one of the inexpensive powered 'monitor' speakers for up-close PC listening they probably could use some fine tuning. A little massaging goes a long way and can make a big difference. Many processing options with Peace add on. Balance control is right there, which is really necessary, but often difficult to find without rummaging through a confused menu tree somewhere deep in Windows. Can even simulate the old Capitol DUOPHONIC for STEREO Phonographs--for all your mono Sinatra records. I know everyone misses that authentic touch. VST plugins are said to be compatible, but I haven't tried any.Comments

2025-04-09Regarding the sound. #14 I'm (ignorantly!) confident the differences are small if you simply use IIR filters to cut peaks below ~300Hz. But FIR correction has much broader capabilities.Perhaps we can convince @digitalfrost to detail his correction process? The DRC-FIR results I've seen at DIYAudio are very impressive - and the configurations a little intimidating. #15 I had just installed Equalizer APO with the frontend Peace Equalizer. Seems to work quite well. #16 I'm (ignorantly!) confident the differences are small if you simply use IIR filters to cut peaks below ~300Hz. The DRC-FIR results I've seen at DIYAudio are very impressive - and the configurations a little intimidating. I'm quite impressed with mathaudio Room EQ. Did try to use REW but i can't get my measuring mic working correctly with REW. With Mathaudio it worked instantly an so far i'm quite happy/impressed with the result. But alway's looking for improvements thats the reason for my quetsion if the differences are such that it is worthwille to try out other Room EQ software. If the differences are neglectible than i don't bother. Thread Starter #17 What is your opinion regarding mathaudio (i suppose Mathaudio room EQ) versus other roomcorrection software like REW (if you ever used that). Are those room correction software so different from eachother regarding the sound. Mathaudio has it's quirks. Unless it has changed all sweeps had to be to 20k. Be careful
