If you are debugging your Android app on a phone or a tablet over USB, you might get the following message shown every time you (or your debugging tool) runs ADB: adb server is out of date. killing... * daemon started successfully * Or even worse: adb server is out of date. killing... * daemon started successfully * ** daemon still not runningerror: cannot connect to daemon The message will make every small operation involving ADB last 3-5 seconds, making deployment annoyingly slow and failing most of the times. This happens because your phone sync application (e.g. HTC Sync) has its own version of adb.exe that is incompatible with Android SDK. Every time you connect your phone to a USB port, the sync application will try to start its own version of adb.exe interfering with your one. The solution A trivial solution would be to find the old adb.exe (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Sync 3.0\adb.exe) and delete it. However, this would break the sync application functionality. To make things better we have developed ADBFix - a small tool that you can download from this page. The tool will detect the older instances of adb.exe that are conflicting with Android SDK and replace them with a stub. The stub will always run the adb.exe from Android SDK instead, so no conflicts will arise. To fix the "adb server is out of date" bug, please follow these steps: Connect your device to the USB port Download and run ADBFix. Specify the location of your Android SDK. Ensure that ADBFix finds the conflicting version of adb.exe: Press "Fix all". Ensure that the conflict is marked as "fixed": Note that you can always roll back the fix by selecting an ADB instance and pressing "Restore original ADB". The internals When you start the tool, it will search for all instances of adb.exe running (and potentially causing future "adb server out of date" messages) and compare their versions with the version of adb.exe from Android SDK. I'm surprised there aren't more ADB mods!This looks like its very painfully close to what I've been looking for: adb sync that works bidirectionally. Basically, when I'm backing up my SDcard I don't want to have to adb pull files that haven't changed since this wastes time and effort (this would also be extremely helpful for backing up the new CWM nandroid blob folders; only backing up the new/modified files). Currently the adb sync command will sync files from desktop to phone, but NOT from phone to desktop. Can ADBLink do this, and if so, is there any way to do it without a daemon? Just a one-shot command when I'm backing up my phone is all I'm looking for.Sorry for necro-bumping the thread, but this is a great little mod so maybe more people should see it. Precise timekeeping is very important for the CloudGen Firewall and Control Center. HA synchronization, data accounting, Control Center configuration updates, logging, event notification, and other time-based services rely on a correct time system. The NTP daemon can be configured to listen on the management IP, additional local IP addresses, and, if remote managed, the VIP address of the managed firewall on port UDP/123. Connections to the NTP daemon are handled by the host firewall. Two synchronization methods are supported:NTP Servers – The firewall acts as a client and retrieves and sets the time according to the time retrieved from the NTP server. You can use multiple NTP servers. The time deviation between the NTP server and the firewall must be less than 1000 seconds for the synchronization to succeed. To continuously synchronize the time with a NTP server, you must enable the NTP daemon. If multiple time servers are used, the time server with the lower stratum value is preferred.NTP Peers – To keep the time in your network synchronized when the NTP servers are unavailable, use the two-way NTP peer synchronization.
