Learn More. #1 I'm thinking that my Samsung SH-S162L DVD-RW drive is dead. I'm hoping there is still something I can do though. I tried updating the firmware yesterday (from TS01 to TS06) using the automatic firmware update program from Samsung's website. It didn't work, and when my computer restarted, it tried updating it again. Once again, it didn't work. Following that, I noticed that my firmware was now "boot," and the light on the drive was constantly lit. I decided to try updating it manually with the sfdnwin program. It didn't work. I then tried to go back to the original TS01 firmware manually, and while doing so, it completely froze my computer. After waiting a bit and it not coming back, I restarted it, hoping that it wouldn't be messed up.My computer then failed to detect the drive. I've tried flashing it with mtkflash versions 1.69, 1.80, and 1.83c. These all just hang. I've tried using the sfdndos program, which doesn't work either.Does anyone know of anything else I can try?
