Running a program with a custom resolution in Windows 7
Download Custom Resolution Utility (CRU): ... tility-CRUI used 1.4.1 but 1.4.2 should work, unpack, run CRU.exe. You will see 3 fields: detailed resolutions, standard resolutions and extension blocks. Delete all 1920x1080 lines in detailed resolutions and standard resolutions EXCEPT one in detailed resolutions 1920x1080 ~240hz. (I have 239.964 hz there, I don't recommend changing it to 240 hz because I think it's from monitor, monitor knows better). After that you should have something like this: double click on CEA-861 line in extension blocks field. Delete all 1920x1080 lines in detailed resolutions. In data blocks field double click on TV resolutions and delete all 1920x1080 lines, click OK. Delete HDR static metadata line in data blocks field. Click OK. Click OK again. Run restart64.exe or restart.exe. DONE. Check your nvidia or amd control panel and set desired HZ, scaling, etc. The only downside is broken HDR, I think it's because ALT-TAB does something with HDR like activates it on desktop, because I have disabled HDR in my game, still HDR static metadata line should be deleted to mitigate slow alt-tabbing. Maybe it's because of lacking HDR settings on windows 7, I don't know, maybe it activates on desktop somehow. If you have an idea how to fix slow ALT-TABBING and keep HDR - tell me!thanks for sharing bro, i also use windows 7 x64 on my asus vg259qm, can you tell me if on windows 10 the problem is present in the same way? pusep Posts: 20 Joined: 02 Jul 2017,

Panel?Sorry for the delay. I have the resolutions added in the CRU and they also appeared in Nvidia Control Panel. However, something has changed. I upgraded my drivers to the latest and chose clean install (knowing that my custom resolutions would also disappear from the Nvidia Control Panel). I haven't reset anything in the CRU (all the settings are still there), but now it has disappeared from the advanced->monitor window in Windows control panel as well. Why might the GTX 780 not need the patcher, and how do I get the resolutions from CRU to appear again? Thanks so much. 03-22-2014, 12:49 AM RE: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher (03-21-2014 08:14 PM)apav Wrote: Sorry for the delay. Home> GPUs by Ryan Smith & Daniel Williams on November 24, 2015 8:00 AM EST Posted in GPUs AMD Radeon Drivers Under The Hood for Displays: Custom Resolutions, Freesync Improvements, & Framerate Target ControlContinuing our look into Crimson’s new features, AMD has also implemented some new & improved functionality specifically targeted at displays. The company has been more aggressive about display technologies and features since embarking on their Freesync project, and that is reflected in some of the changes made here.Custom Resolution SupportFirst and foremost, AMD has finally (and at long last) implemented support for custom resolutions within their control panel. Custom resolution support is something of a niche feature – most users will never find it, let alone need it – however it’s extremely useful for those users who do need it. In our own case, for example, we use this feature with our Sharp PN-K321 4K monitor in order to run 1440p@60Hz on it, as the monitor doesn’t explicitly support that setting and Windows would rather upscale 1440p to 2160p@30Hz when left to its own devices.Custom resolution support is another area where AMD is catching up with NVIDIA, as the latter has supported custom resolutions for several years now. In the meantime it’s been possible to use third-party utilities such as Custom Resolution Utility with AMD’s drivers to force the matter, but bringing support within AMD’s drivers is still a notable improvement.AMD has never previously supported this feature in part due to the very low but nonetheless real. Custom resolution - Windows 7 Forums - Windows 7 Help Forums

Make 60 Hz available for DSR. You also need to add 3840x1600 @ 120 Hz separately if you want 120 Hz for DSR. Whatever was happening before doesn't make sense because without 3840x1600 @ 120 Hz defined, the driver would have to scale to 3840x2160 @ 120 Hz instead.
