I edit rather basic projects (cuts and Essential Graphics lower thirds, some transitions, few effects) from H.264 camera source clips, on an M1 Pro MacBook Pro with 32GB unified memory, and don’t bother with proxies any more because editing flows smoothly enough with original clips. A current M2 MacBook Air should be comparable to that, and should run Premiere Pro well. You might get away with 16GB unified memory, but maxing out the M2 Air at 24GB would be better to make more unified memory available for GPU acceleration, especially if you keep multiple applications open.I used to edit on a 2011 MacBook Pro. Other than possibly not needing to use proxies on 2K/4K source clips, the differences during editing that you will probably notice between your 2012 Intel Mac and a new M1/M2 Apple Silicon Mac are dramatically increased GPU acceleration (the GPU in a 2012 is pretty weak by today’s standards), little to no lag thanks to the combination of GPU acceleration, video codec hardware acceleration, and a lot more CPU cores; and Apple Silicon power efficiency means heat/fan noise should be much lower or hard to notice most of the time. II, that's already weirdly unoptimised #7 I guess it's good that I have a Rocket Lake CPU with gen 12 graphics, so I can test my old favourites for bugs before buying an Arc GPU. I feel sorry for others who aren't so lucky. #8 just curious why not implement dxvk on a driver level?It performs well when used on linux and can also be used on windows. Seems to me that it could be an effective fallback for intel #9 hmm again have to see how that works out, I wonder what the reason is for not natively supporting it, is it really that hard to do or demand that much space or something?Also if the a750 is around 3060 levels then really this should not be that much of a problem maxing out dx9 games even with a deficit.But if its buggy and inconsistent that will suck, and of course those that seek to play older games at 200 fps etc might not be able to with Intel hardware #10 just curious why not implement dxvk on a driver level?It performs well when used on linux and can also be used on windows. Lag you get due to the GPU being saturated. This is where NVidia reflex helps. Or the "ultra low latency" setting in the nvidia panel. Or the AMD "anti-lag" setting. Reflex or a cap that keeps the GPU from maxing out is the best way to get rid of that lag. Although I find the "ultra" low latency setting to be good enough, since I don't play competitive shooters I never had input lag in ArmA 3 with vsync disabled while doing 20fps.*EDIT*Or any other game for that matter. Last time I looked at MSI afterburner it was showing me anywhere from 14% to 30% CPU usage while in Chernobylite. Gaming load realistically won't see 100% and any small amounts of AVX get lost in the shuffle.Test if you want to, but I'd disable AVX2 and AVX-512 at a minimum. Thanks for the detailed response. Yep, I'm having no luck passing this with my 4.9 all cores OC. I get BSOD's or it just freezes up. I don't think this is due to thermals as my temps are maxing out around 80c so I up't the voltage to 1.3v which seems like a lot for 4.9 but the VDroop when running P95 drops it down to 1.145v. This is lowest I've seen it in any of these test. Don't really want to push the voltage higher or start messing will LLC again. Besides the testing I've already completed, would you suggest anything else I need to run to verify stability? I don't want to send this ship out to sea until I'm sure.
