Docusign, the cloud-based electronic signature platform, today announced that is has processed more than a half billion pages of “contracts, agreements and other legally binding documents”, all as part of its effort to enable businesses to go paperless in the document sharing and signing process. According to the company, this effort has saved more than 60,000 trees, and what would equate to $10 million in shipping costs. To commemorate the milestone, DocuSign has made a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation to preserve one million square feet of rain forest.DocuSign also announced today the release of the latest edition of its eSignature solution, including the first appearance of a free version. This update to platform will bring DocuSign users the ability to “tag documents, auto-save, and make use of HTML5 enhancements”, the team said, like the ability to drag and drop files into DocuSign’s envelope to send, as well as pull documents from Box.net, Dropbox, Google Docs and Salesforce.DocuSign’s new solution will also include interactive dashboards and reporting to let users know where documents stand in the review and signing process, and browser-aware localization, which will put documents in the user’s native language based on the user’s browser. Most notably, DocuSign now includes integration with social networks, allowing users to sign in with Facebook, LinkedIn, Paypal, and Salesforce.Lastly, DocuSign will be offering its users a free edition of its platform, in which they can sign up for a free account and receive 5-free “sends” (documents sent and signed) per month, with no credit card required.Because the electronic signatures company now has over 8 million DocuSigners, when Adobe entered the eSignature space last year, DocuSign welcomed the addition “as market validation”. But, yesterday, Adobe announced the acquisition of EchoSign, an eSignature solution with over 3 million users, which it plans to integrate The DocuSign free plan. 2025-03-27Interface, while functional, isn’t the most attractive.Pricing:For unlimited signature sending and up to 5 templates, you’ll only need to pay $15 per month for the Essentials plan. Or get up to 15 templates for $25 per month with the Standard plan.Reviews:HelloSign has 4.7 stars on G2.⭐5. Best free DocuSign alternativeYou’ve probably used Adobe Acrobat before. If your e-signature needs are infrequent and uncomplicated, then you might be able to get by with Adobe Acrobat. For example, if you send only a few NDAs and contracts a year, you can avoid paying for a dedicated tool. However, keep in mind that Adobe Acrobat might make your business look unprofessional. If you’re trying to close a client, you’ll be better of with proposal software. But if you’re sending contracts for non-sales-related purposes, then Adobe Acrobat just might do the trick.Top features:E-signaturesText fieldsRequest e-signaturesShare with signers and collaboratorsDownload completed contractsRead PDFsComment and highlight on PDFsPros:You might already have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. If you need to just sign documents yourself, you can use the sign and fill features for free, but if you need to request signatures from others, it will set you back a low monthly fee.If you only need to sign a couple of documents per month, you can get by with the free version.Cons:Using fill and sign is clunky for managing contract templates, so you’ll need to create a Word Doc template, and then save that as a PDF in order to sign it.Adobe Acrobat doesn’t offer the best experience for clients, and it could make you look less professional than if you used a more modern e-signature platform.Pricing:Adobe Acrobat allows you to use the free version of their Fill and Sign tool up to two times a month. Or, you can pay for the desktop app and get unlimited signing for $12.99 per month.Reviews:Adobe Acrobat has 4.5 stars on G2.⭐6. Best platform for corporate contract collaborationWindward Core is a great DocuSign alternative for enterprises looking to take their document management and contract collaboration to the next level. The platform offers contract template designing, data integrations, data queries, and
