2025-04-10Version, they must not be up-to-date in the UCheck database". I find that UCheck is currently much slower than SUMo in detecting when a new software version is released for Compatible (blue) programs, but in part that is because UCheck uses automated bots that crawl the software developer's website to look for documentation about new releases for Compatible programs, which can be very slow, while SUMo always based the latest available version on telemetry data collected from the wider SUMo community.I also find that UCheck can be slower (and less accurate) than SUMo was at finding new releases for a Community (grey) programs, but that might be because UCheck currently has a smaller number of users feeding telemetry data back to the UCheck server for analysis, so hopefully this will improve over time.If you find all of this confusing then don't worry - so do most ex-SUMo users. -----------Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3570 * Firefox v119.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23090.2008-1.1.23100.2009 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.5.293-1.0.2181 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7690 * 64-bit UCheck Free Portable v5.0.4.0 * QuickInstaller BETA v0.2.8708.37045 « Last Edit: November 07, 2023, 02:53:19 PM by lmacri » Logged Reply #4November 06, 2023, 06:47:41 PM Hi Gil-s, lmacri, lmacri answer covered most of your questions (thanks, lmacri ).I would like to add that UCheck indeed still has issue differentiating between ESR and stable versions. It will be hopefully improved in the future.Regards. Logged Reply #5November 07, 2023, 08:05:33 AM Hi Imacri, Curson,Thanks for all this information, it's much clearer now.I'm going to get used to using this new software, I need to have fresh information on new software releases. I've got a fairly large fleet of computers and I need to update my deployment tools regularly for the most-used software.Thank you for your
2025-03-27Higher than the 'Latest' version, they must not be up-to-date in the UCheck database, and some installed software have the same version as the one in the 'Latest' column, but differ by one or two characters....Hi Gil-s:There are four different categories of programs shown on the Installed tab of UCheck - Compatible (blue highlight), Portable (purple highlight), Community (grey highlight) and Unsupported (no highlight). See my 04-Nov-2023 post # 787 in the topic UCheck - Update your Software in 2 Clicks in the Wilders Security forum where I gave a brief description of each of these categories. If I hover my mouse over a program highlighted in grey, like the Apple Mobile Device Support program shown in my attached image, for example, the tool tip will say "Community". Unlike SUMo, the colours used on the Installed tab of UCheck do not indicate whether the program is up-to-date or not. In UCheck you must look at the STATUS column to see if it is "Outdated" or "Latest (up-to-date). My attached image is sorted by STATUS and shows UCheck found available updates for 5 of my Community programs (i.e., grey highlight with STATUS = "Outdated").________________________________If the version numbers in the VERSION (the version on your computer) and LATEST (the latest available version offered by the developer) columns are identical then you have the latest available version and the STATUS should be "Latest" to indicate the program is up-to-date.If the version number in the VERSION column is lower than the version in the LATEST column then your software needs to be updated and the STATUS should be "Outdated".If the version number in the VERSION column is higher than the version in the LATEST column then you are correct when you say that "Some of the installed software have versions higher than the 'Latest'
