Syncplay 1.6.5 Beta 1 - Syncplay

The Client launches a free media player on your Windows computer, connects to a Syncplay server, and joins a virtual room on that server. Pauses unpauses and seeks made within that media player instance are relayed to fellow viewers via the server to allow for these actions to be replicated by the media players of everyone else in the same virtual room. The server keeps track of where everyone is in the video so if someone joins they can be brought to the right place, and so if someone is too far ahead they can be brought back in sync.It can also share information abou... I have checked, and there are also issues with MPC-BE. I looked back, and it appears like that Syncplay 1.6.8 was the last version of Syncplay to reliably work with MPC-HC.In light of this, we are discontinuing support for MPC-HC and MPC-BE for the following reasons:Syncplay's MPC-HC code dates to around 2011 and was originally written for Python 2. While we ported it over to Python 3, it appears that it would need someone dedicated to its maintenance to keep it working as we continue to update to newer versions of Python and change our dependencies and features. We currently have no MPC-HC or MPC-BE maintainers. As such, there is nobody dedicated to testing that Syncplay works on new versions of Syncplay as it is being developed, and nobody has volunteered to fix bugs when they occur. If an experienced developer who is an active MPC-HC/BE user and a regular Syncplay user wishes to volunteer wants to volunteer to become an MPC-HC maintainer then please let me know.We have long recommended people use mpv and mpv.net as these players support features such as multiple OSD messages and in-player chat and / command that we cannot achieve with other players. Now that people have this option, it is hard to justify investing significant development time supporting media players that would give people an inferior Syncplay experience. The main version of MPC-HC was itself discontinued in 2017. While it has been continued in it no longer has the same user base it once had. A smaller user base makes it less likely that people testing development versions of Syncplay will test it withComments
