The Astral Plane, also known as the Astral Sea,[16] was one of the planes of existence in various models of cosmology.Geography[] “ Time. Or rather the absence of it. In the Astral Plane, everything is eternal. ”— Gale, on his interest in the Astral Plane.[17]The Astral could be reached from almost any point in a Prime Material plane or first layer of any Outer plane by spell, psionic ability, or device. It was described as a barren place of other-dimensional nothingness extending in all directions. What little solid substance that floated in the bright, gray void was typically chunks of matter broken off from their original plane. The Astral had no gravity but objects did retain their mass so you could throw small items or push off from large objects to move in the weightless environment.[6]Time in the Astral flowed at the same rate on a Prime Material plane but the effects of time were slowed almost to a stop―a thousand years in the Astral plane felt like only a day to the traveler.[7] Hence, it was sometimes considered effectively timeless.[17] Creatures did not go hungry or age while in the Astral plane. For that reason, its mortal inhabitants needed to return to the Material Plane in order to have children or to reach adulthood.[16]Entering the Astral plane could be accomplished in one of two ways: projecting your astral form into the plane via the astral projection spell[16] or the astral projection psionic power,[18] or by physically entering the plane.[16] Astral projection was the safest way to travel but still involved risk because you left your physical body behind on the traveler's plane of origin. The astral body would be accompanied by the astral forms of any items and clothing that were magical or radiated a magic aura. While projecting, your astral self was connected to your physical body by a silver cord that stretched out behind you for about 10 feet (3 meters), or 1 foot (30 centimeters) depending on the version of the spell, and then became invisible and intangible.[6][19] Very few things could sever this silver cord: a powerful psychic wind, a githyanki silver sword,[20][21] an astral dreadnought,[21] the spell sever the cord,[22] or the will of gods.[20][23][note 2] The physical body left behind appeared alive but did not require food, water, or air and did not age.[6] It could be moved and was vulnerable to damage and death. If the traveler's physical body was slain, death followed the projection some minutes later. If the astral self was slain, the traveler then returned to his or her physical body in a coma. Physically entering the Astral plane required a spell such as plane shift[20] or the psionic Try not to hit buildings! This page guides you through the process of simulating a fishing trawler sailing in a stormy sea, using WaveForce and an Active Body Thruster.OverviewThis is an Advanced Level tutorial. The workflow for setting up the shot, and the Phoenix settings involved in the simulation are explained in detail. However, it's recommended that you have at least basic knowledge in lighting and materials in 3ds Max.This tutorial explores how to create a stormy sea (with waves around 1.5 meters tall) and simulate a ship sailing at sea as Active Bodies. The ship is powered by an Active Body Thruster, no manual keyframing is needed for the ship animation. This simulation requires 5.01.00, Build ID: 20220706 and V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max 2018 at the least. You can download official Phoenix and V-Ray from If you notice a major difference between the results shown here and the behavior of your setup, please contact us using the Support Form.To download project files: Download Project FilesWant to follow along but don’t have a license?: Download Free TrialUnits SetupScale is crucial for the behavior of any simulation. The real-world size of the Simulator in units is important for the simulation dynamics.Large-scale simulations appear to move slower, while mid-to-small scale simulations have lots of vigorous movements. When you create your Simulator, check the Grid rollout where the real-world sizes of the Simulator are shown. If the size of the Simulator in the scene cannot be changed, you can trick the solver into working as if the scale is larger or smaller by changing the Scene Scale option in the Grid rollout. The Phoenix solver is not affected by how you choose to view the Display Unit Scale — it is just a matter of convenience. Setting the units to Meters is a reasonable choice for this setup.Go to Customize → Units Setup and set Display Unit Scale to Metric Meters. Also, set the System Units so that 1 Unit equals 1 Meter.Scene LayoutThe final scene consists of the following elements:A Ship geometry and its active bodies clone;A Phoenix Liquid Source;Three Particle Shaders for the Foam, Splash and Mist particles respectively;A Box geometry used in the Liquid Source for the foam emission;A V-Ray Plane used as an infinite ground surface - sometimes the V-Ray Plane might cause flickering at the ocean border, so consider using a very large regular plane geometry placed below the liquid simulator instead;A Wave Force to drive waves from water; An Active Bodies helper for Active Bodies simulation. An Active Body Thruster helper to move Active Bodies (the Ship) with an engine force.9. Section formula,We know that the coordinates of the point R, which divide the line segment joining two points, P (x1, y1, z1) and Q (x2, y2, z2), externally in the ratio m: n, are given byUpon comparing, we havex1 = -2, y1 = 3, z1 = 5;x2 = 1, y2 = -4, z2 = 6 andm = 2, n = 3So, the coordinates of the point which divide the line segment joining the points P (– 2, 3, 5) and Q (1, – 4, 6) in the ratio 2: 3 externally are given by∴ The coordinates of the point which divides the line segment joining the points (-2, 3, 5) and (1, -4, 6) are (-8, 17, 3).2. Given that P (3, 2, – 4), Q (5, 4, – 6) and R (9, 8, –10) are collinear. Find the ratio in which Q divides PR.Solution:Let us consider Q divides PR in the ratio k: 1.By using the section formula,We know that the coordinates of the point R, which divides the line segment joining two points, P (x1, y1, z1) and Q (x2, y2, z2), internally in the ratio m : n, are given byUpon comparing, we havex1 = 3, y1 = 2, z1 = -4;x2 = 9, y2 = 8, z2 = -10 andm = k, n = 1So, we have9k + 3 = 5 (k+1)9k + 3 = 5k + 59k – 5k = 5 – 34k = 2k = 2/4= ½Hence, the ratio in which Q divides PR is 1: 2.3. Find the ratio in which the YZ-plane divides the line segment formed by joining the points (–2, 4, 7) and (3, –5, 8).Solution:Let the line segment formed by joining the points P (-2, 4, 7) and Q (3, -5, 8) be PQ.We know that any point on the YZ-plane is of the form (0, y, z).So now, let R (0, y, z) divide the line segment PQ in the ratio k: 1.Then,Upon comparing, we havex1 = -2, y1 = 4, z1 = 7x2 = 3, y2 = -5, z2 = 8 andm = k, n = 1By. Pm Interesting, I attached the pigtail and started it up again. Attached the TrackClip, but no joy. Well, I had read that taking the setting file out of the "appdata" folder might work. I cut/pasted it onto my desktop and viola. I rebooted my rig and checked to see if it had written new settings. Yep. Works with the TrackClip, have yet to try the Pro. jillian.smythe NaturalPoint Employee Posts: 530 Joined: Fri Sep 02, 2022 6:40 am Re: Track IR 5 simply not working Post by jillian.smythe » Tue Oct 24, 2023 6:47 am Hello wadi,If you find that the TrackClip Pro still doesn't work, but the TrackClip does, make sure to change the setting in the software to TrackClipPro.
